WEDDING IN KARPATHOS

With a wedding in Karpathos, Nikos & Stella tied the knot, in a traditional ceremony that took place and had all those elements I really look forward to capture. Karpathos island is known for it’s picturesque beaches, villages and natural environment. The landscape is raw, with steep mountains and cliffs that make you hold your breath. Most villages are built on top of steep slopes, with a view to remember. It is also known for its traditions that hold up deep into time. Mantinades, a traditional local music habit, which are impromptu verses from the guests of the wedding, were surely very intense, as they refer to people that weren’t amongst them, due to their recent loss.

Covering a traditional wedding in Karpathos, is something I will surely never forget. Emotional moments, love all around and so many images that will accompany their unique story for ever. The preparations of the Groom took place in Lefkos village. The Bride dressed up in Pigadia. The Wedding ceremony took place in Mertonas and the wedding reception was in Aperi village. The after wedding photoshoot in Olymbos, and after all, in just three days, I managed to capture images, almost from the entire island. Make sure to check the blog posts about it, here and here, and also check their wedding album as well. I hope you enjoy viewing!
