I am Vasilis
And I’ve been fortunate to Witness and Narrate many stories of people in Love
Hello, I’m Vasilis Liappis
Greece Wedding & Elopement photographer
Since you reached this corner of the web, allow me to tell you a little more about how I actually work. I’m not interested in directing your wedding day, I’m interested in noticing it. I’ll step in with a little guidance when it helps, and otherwise stay out of the way so the two of you can just be there. What ends up in your gallery isn’t a performance, it’s what actually happened.
Born in the 80’s, my journey with photography began in 1998 when I first studied the craft, and ever since, I have been immersed in the industry. From working in commercial and fashion studios to film labs and beyond, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the art and science behind every image. My experience with film photography has given me an appreciation for the nuances of color, light, and composition, skills that seamlessly translate into my work today as a Greece Wedding & Elopement photographer. Since 2014, I have focused on weddings, blending my extensive knowledge of color theory, photography, and editing to create visually stunning and emotionally resonant images.

Things I love the most
Off camera
At home, I share my days with three cats who’ve claimed every corner of it as their own. Warmth, playfulness, the occasional camera-blocking. They’re family, plain and simple.
Traveling is still the thing that resets me, wandering through a village I’d never heard of the week before, finding out what’s actually good to eat somewhere new, the small imprint every trip leaves behind.
The sea does the same work in a smaller radius. It’s where I go to think less. Underwater photography lets me keep exploring it even after I’ve surfaced, chasing the way light moves down there, which barely resembles how it moves up here.
Cycling does something similar, just on two wheels instead of a boat. There’s not much better than a long ride through scenery I didn’t plan for.
And then, there’s Karpathos, my second home. This is the island where my soul truly feels at peace, rugged, still mostly undiscovered, ringed by water that particular blue you only half believe in photographs. I keep coming back for the same reason anyone keeps coming back somewhere, it’s the version of Greece I trust the most.

Since I can remember, I’ve been drawn to film, and that’s still where my style comes from. Not the look of it so much as the patience it teaches.
A roll of 35mm gives you thirty six frames and no screen to check, so you learn to wait for the real thing instead of manufacturing one. That’s still how I work today, even on the frames I shoot digitally. Being a Greece Wedding & Elopement photographer, most of what I do happens before I ever raise the camera, reading the light, reading the two of you, finding the spot where something honest is about to happen.
I’ll give you direction when it helps, where to stand, where the light is, when to look at each other, but I won’t ask you to hold a pose or fake a laugh. I focus on helping you feel comfortable with me (this is my superpower). The moments I’m actually after can’t be posed anyway, they happen when you forget I’m there. Every wedding I photograph is still a privilege, not just a job.

why work with me?
inclusivity
When you choose to work with me, you receive my full attention. No double bookings, no distractions. I photograph only one wedding per day, giving you my full attention, energy, and creativity. Your story deserves nothing less.
creativity
I’m not choosing between candid and composed. I use light, movement, and where you’re standing to put you in a position for something real to happen, then I stay ready for it. Some of it is planned. Most of it isn’t. The photograph doesn’t announce which is which, it just has to be one you’d want to look at in twenty years.
experience
With years of experience capturing destination weddings across Greece, from Santorini to Hydra and Mykonos, I understand how to navigate all kinds of lighting, locations, and timelines. I work seamlessly with planners, coordinators, and local vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly. My calm presence and clear communication allow you to be fully present on your big day, while I preserve the memories you’ll revisit for a lifetime.
35mm film
Digital is what’s included in your collection. Film is there if you want it, an add-on you can include in your coverage rather than something built in, because the two do different jobs. Film forces a slower pace and holds color in a way digital still doesn’t quite match. Add it and you get both in the same gallery, film’s grain next to digital’s sharpness, two different textures for the same day instead of one flattened version of it.
