Andreas & Alex Romantic Wedding in Lefkada, Greece

As a Lefkada wedding photographer, I’ve had the chance to witness many weddings and wedding proposals on this island. Still, each story feels unique. If you’re dreaming of a wedding on a Greek island that blends beauty, emotion, and authenticity, Lefkada might just be your place. This wedding between Andreas and Alex, a lovely couple from Switzerland, had all that and more.Andreas and Alex’s day began at the elegant Ionian Blue Resort and Spa Hotel, just outside Nikiana. The light there, especially in the early hours, always feels soft and cinematic. Alex got ready in one of the suites with views to the Ionian Sea. The energy was calm, but full of anticipation. She wore a minimal, elegant gown, and before leaving, we captured a few quiet moments on black-and-white film. Some of my favorite frames from the day.

A Touch of Timelessness — Film Photography in Lefkada

One of the special elements of Andreas and Alex’s wedding was the use of film photography. I love incorporating film into wedding days when the couple is open to it — and this one was no exception.

During the day, I shot a series of black and white and colored film photos. There’s something raw and honest about film. It doesn’t rush. It pays attention to the little things — the quiet hands, the natural light falling across a dress, the way someone looks when they think no one is watching.

Film adds texture and emotion in a way that digital sometimes can’t replicate. That softness, that grain, that feeling of nostalgia — it turns fleeting moments into timeless memories.

For couples who are drawn to a more organic and storytelling approach, film photography for weddings in Lefkada can be a beautiful addition. You don’t need to do anything special for it. Just be present. The moments come naturally.

If you’re considering working with a Lefkada wedding photographer who offers a mix of digital and film photography, feel free to ask me how we can blend the two. Whether it’s a few rolls during the preparations or capturing golden hour portraits on medium format, film always finds a way to elevate the story.

The ceremony took place at the picturesque Agia Kiriaki Chapel, just across from Nidri.

It’s only accessible by boat, which makes the arrival part of the experience. The guests, along with Andreas, sailed together, creating a festive and emotional atmosphere before the ceremony even began. As a skilled wedding photographer in the Lefkada region, this aspect added a special touch to their memorable celebration. Alex arrived in a smaller boat, and I don’t think anyone will forget that entrance. The breeze, the joy on everyone’s faces — it all felt cinematic.

After the ceremony, we all took the boat back to Ionian Blue for the reception. Just before the couple joined the party, they took a few minutes for themselves. We used that time to capture a series of intimate portraits as the light softened. That golden hour slowly turned into blue hour, and the magic continued with the expertise of a wedding photographer in Lefkada.

The reception had everything:

Heartfelt speeches, traditional Greek dancing, spontaneous laughs, and one of the most joyful dance floors I’ve seen in awhile. As a wedding photographer in Lefkada, I always try to blend into the background, capturing the emotions without interrupting the moment. And this celebration gave me plenty to work with.
